What is this retreat about?
How do we come into real and complete connection with life, one not coloured by the horrors of the modern world? The Buddha lived and practiced out in the elements, meditating deep in forests, begging for his food and sleeping out under the stars. In our hyper industrialised society we have lost that intimate connection with the natural world and this can often leave us feeling alienated. Join us for a weekend as respected Buddhist teacher and author, Vajragupta, opens up how Ethics, Meditation and Wisdom can bring us back into an immediate, close and profound relationship with the Wild World.
Who is this retreat for?
The retreat will be suitable for anyone who is part of our sangha or a friend of our sangha. Although our inspiration and practices come from Buddhist teachings, you do not need to be a Buddhist to attend or benefit from the retreat. Please contact us if you have any questions: ekbuddhists@gmail.com
What happens on a Retreat?
Retreats are excellent opportunities to deepen into meditation practice and connection with the Sangha. We will be having talks, discussion groups, longer sessions of meditation and periods of silence alongside shared meals and lots of time and space to relax. The retreat will be from 10.30am to 9pm on Saturday, meeting again at 10.30am till 4.30pm on Sunday. There will be three vegan meals supplied and time to rest, chat and go for walks throughout the weekend.
A rough plan of the weekend will be made available closer to the time.
Note this is a non-residential retreat, we'll all be staying in our own homes!
Where is this retreat?
We are holding this retreat at Manor Barn, Cockering Rd, CT1 3UR [Map below] A beautiful and spacious barn studio on the outskirts of Canterbury. There will be plenty of space and lots of excellent local walks. There is parking space here but it is limited - We encourage arranging car sharing before hand, if you can give others a lift that would be most appreciated.
What does this retreat cost?
The retreat cost covers the full cost of the retreat, including lunch and dinner on the Saturday and lunch on the Sunday. We want retreats to be accessible to all, if the price of this retreat is too much we have a bursary fund available. If this would be of help to you, please email Jyotikari about a bursary place at: ekbuddhists@gmail.com
