Sangha Evening in Margate

For people who want to go a little deeper into meditation, and the Dharma, we have our Sangha nights, this will be time for us to spend together and build a community, or ’Sangha’! (In Buddhism Sangha means ‘community’).

Our Sangha Evenings are suitable for people who know the Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana Meditations.

We usually have a lightly led meditation and a talk. There is also a chance for a cuppa and a catch up at the break!

We meet 7-9PM at St John's Hall, Victoria Road, Margate CT9 1LG, tea and biscuits provided.

Everyone is welcome, no booking required. We ask for a donation of £8 (or what you can afford) to help with venue hire. There is usually a card machine available to take payments.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do I need to have been coming?

The class is best suited to those who are familiar with the two meditation practices we teach (Mindfulness of Breathing and Mettā Bhāvanā) and are able to comfortably meditate for around 40 minutes with minimal instruction.

Do I need to book?

No, just turn up!

What is Pūjā?

A Pūjā is a traditional Buddhist ritual that includes chanting and making offerings.

If coming on a Pūjā night, and you have not done it before, please let the class leader know, so they can give an introduction.

How much does the class cost?

There is a suggested donation of £8 per person to help us cover our running costs.

What does ‘Sangha’ mean?

The word Sanga means ‘to bring together’ into a group and is the general word for ‘Community’ in both Pali and Sanskrit. In Buddhism, it is primarily used to refer to the Buddhist community.
